| Aufgabenstellung |
The development of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT) is a pivotal step in expanding offshore wind energy into deeper waters, where traditional fixed-bottom turbines are not feasible. This Master’s Thesis aims to contribute to this field by setting up a comprehensive aero-hydro-servo-elastic model for a novel floating wind turbine concept completed by validation and comparison against research and industry best-practice parameters and values.
1. Model Setup: Incorporate aerodynamic, hydrodynamic, structural, and control system parameters to simulate the floating structure and turbine’s dynamic behaviour.
2. Load Simulations: Analyse coupled interactions and identify critical load cases for design validation.
3. Validation and Optimization: Suggest optimizations for improved floating structure and turbine performance and reliability. |

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Master’s student with the following qualifications:
>Good foundation in aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, and structural dynamics.
>Familiarity with modelling and simulation tools (e.g. OpenFAST, OrcaFlex, ANSYS, or similar)
>Experience with programming languages like Python, MATLAB, or C++ is a plus. |
